It was an opportunity that was simply too good to ignore. One of Canada's newest niche employment websites, Jobtrekker.ca, became part of the WorkCabin.ca network effective today. The inclusion of Jobtrekker.ca, Canada's #1 base camp for outdoor adventure jobs, within the WorkCabin.ca environment makes perfect sense, said WorkCabin.ca founder Gregg McLachlan.
jobtrekker "We are thrilled to add Jobtrekker.ca. The outdoor adventure community and the environmental community already share many passions and synergies," he said. "There is an obvious natural fit here that makes perfect sense. Plus, we like the Jobtrekker approach to building a brand and employment site -- it's professional. There's obvious investment in the product to make it that way."
Jobtrekker.ca presently operates as a free resource for the Canadian outdoor adventure industry and will remain so for the forseeable future.
The site gives adventure-related companies and organizations a pro-level tool to specifically target job seekers interested in eco-tourism, adventure retail, watersports, wilderness guiding, camp jobs, etc. Companies already using the job site include Mountain Equipment Co-Op. Ontario's Algonquin College has also endorsed Jobtrekker, as has Outward Bound.
Jobtrekker.ca operates more like an adventure co-op: organizations and companies post, revise and manager their own postings.
"Certainly, companies and organizations who use Jobtrekker.ca will enjoy benefits with WorkCabin.ca," he said. "There's no question that many outdoor adventure operators already have a green approach and that's where we can help them with two professional niche job sites."
Jobtrekker.ca and WorkCabin.ca already share a nationally known career expert, Alan Kearns, of Ottawa-based CareerJoy, as a career columnist. Kearns is known as Canada's career coach, and is also a career columnist with Workopolis. Jobtrekker also has a growing base of adventure partners who actively promote the service to Canada's adventure industry.
